It requires QuickTime, as well, which makes it even tougher to get started if you have a slower Internet connection. To make up for the long setup process, Go Pro Studio gives you a video editor that's dripping with style. It features a gorgeous, intuitive layout that puts your video at center stage.

For example, with Direct upload you can upload your video to YouTube or Facebook directly from the application. The instant Color Match feature will make two different scenes appear as though they were shot on the same day, at the same time, and with the same filter. The basic (Platinum) version comes with 10 audio and 10 video tracks – perfect for 99% of all video edits. It also comes equipped with 350+ video effects and 200+ video transitions. I've been using for many years and it is super powerful.
You can still download it, but it is no longer supported by Windows 10. The program is still fully functional inside of Windows 10. Microsoft recommends using an alternative program – because this program will eventually be phased out. This isn't a bad option – but I recommend against it.

It kicks you off with a tutorial in case you're new to video editing, but the program is streamlined enough that you might not need it. Though it's welcoming to beginners, the program doesn't slouch on features. It gives you plenty of control over how the video looks, with exposure, white balance, and a host of other image-editing tools. It includes some preset filters to give you a certain style with a press of the button, too.
While I was initially excited about this app, when I realized their 400MB upload limit, I quickly fell out of love. While many of your video clips will be less than 1 minute 47 seconds, how will you edit all your 2 minute+ clips? Not with Animoto. • Windows Movie Maker: Has begun it's slow death. This is a solid free option – but because it is no longer supported in Windows 10, you can do better. Filmora (Mac & PC) $30 – is a fun piece of software that’s available for Mac and PC, and it’s very affordable. It’s perfect for any level of editing, especially beginners, and it has a bunch of really neat features and effects and stuff that are perfect for editing GoPro videos and family movies. Filmora recently released some updates making it a great platform for editing action videos. Though not strictly a GoPro software update, it's very slick!. Final Cut Pro (Mac) $299 – (owned by Apple) is the cool kids video editing software, and definitely suits any hard core video editor.
