Promethean Usb Driver For Mac
We have found a temporary work around for 300/500 series ActivBoards which is to activate the dual user function within ActivInspire, and select the student annotation tool with the student pen (light grey) on the student toolbar. Once you have done this, you can continue using the teacher pen in the normal manner, you will just need to move the student toolbar out of the way somewhere. Kind regards, Adam Promethean Technical Support. Hi Michael, Thank you for posting. To confirm, the issues you are seeing are not relating to the ActivDriver but rather than the ActivInspire software as your ActivPens will be working in other applications such as ClassFlow.
Hi, Thanks for posting on the Support Community. With regard to the issue raised, please can you provide the model numbers for the ActivBoards that you are referencing along with the firmware version on each of the ActivBoards? The TP guides that you have referenced are for the ActivBoard Touch. There should be nothing that causes the Mac to hang specifically when you are connecting to the ActivBoard. Are you connecting using a single USB lead to the ActivBoard or does this USB connect into any wallboxes or connectivity panels? If you connect a short 3m or less USB cable, does this work? Do other computers work with the ActivBoards in question?
This has never happened with the previous versions of the driver before El Capitan. Another thing we noticed is that the application itself ActivInspire often hangs at launch specially when the computer has been left on for the night. The following morning when ActivInspire is launched, the splash screen with the flame logo appears but then it just stays there and the flame no longer continues. It just hangs and we have to do a force quit to terminate it. The only way to get the app back running is to restart the computer and in some extreme cases, we have to uninstall and then reinstall and restart the computer. Strange since the computers are brand new imacs. We don't know if this is related or connected to the driver issue being discussed here.
If there isn't going to be an update, let us know. We have been with Promethean for five years. This should not cause the users of the older versions of the boards to be left out.
It doesn't work. ActivInspire lags behind the pen. You have to write incredibly slow or else your strokes are missed. I've only tested in ActivInspire. Teachers have their lessons plans laid out in ActivInspire. Flowcharts don't seem to open in anything but ActivInspire. I'm not sure what good the board will do if the pen works in any other program if they can't open their Flowcharts.
This is the second year in a row, at least from what I have been through, that Promethean has not had a working driver for an updated OS within a reasonable timeframe. Your equipment is excellent, it really is, but a new driver must be completed earlier and more effective communication developed. Promethean USB Audio - Driver Download. Hi, This issue has been seen in the past when using ActivInspire with our touch products such as the ActivPanel, there is a simple setting that needs to be changed and this should help: To resolve this, go to the File menu and choose Settings. On Mac OS X, go to the ActivInspire menu and choose Preferences.
Good afternoon Promethean, I think everyone here is incredibly frustrated about not hearing about any updated information concerning a new driver for Mac OS Sierra. I know I certainly am. Can you give us any type of timeframe? It is ridiculous that, after almost a month, there is no driver nor any updated information. I would think that most of your users are in education, which makes the delay even more upsetting since they/we are all well into the school year.
Hi, Thank you for your post. Whilst we are trying our best to find solutions in the meantime we don't yet have any work arounds for the 1st or 2nd Generation ActivBoards. We will pass this issue on to the ActivInspire development team to help them with their testing., Thanks for posting.
The development teams are aware of this issue, and rest assured when we release a version of ActivInspire that will support Sierra we would expect this issue to be addressed. At this stage, we do not have a timeline on when we expect ActivInspire to support Mac OS Sierra officially, but it seems from the outset that 90% of our features are working as expected.

As you may or may not be aware we have got Mac OS Sierra under QA currently in relation to ActivDriver (v5.14.21) and ActivInspire (v2.8) On initial release of Mac OS Sierra 10.12.0 a major issue was identified in that annotations would not “release” and straight lines were being drawn. This issue was caused by a change to the way Apple handle HID events from OS 10.11 to 10.12. This issue was fixed by Apple in Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1, so our QA processes had to start again on the updated OS.
There have been some previous comments to this issue. One resolution for OS Sierra was using the previous version of ActivDriver.
So far there has been only been one major issue that has been identified with Mac OS Sierra 10.12.1 within ActivInspire which is not in relation to the ActivDriver, where every second annotation being missed when used in conjunction with an AB300 and AB500 ActivBoards. We have found a temporary work around for 300/500 series ActivBoards which is to activate the dual user function within ActivInspire, and select the student annotation tool with the student pen (light grey) on the student toolbar. Usb Driver Download For Mac
However, I don't understand why it takes weeks to get a working driver for a new Apple OS. Are there such big difficulties after the beta version used in the Apple developer program? I remember with El Capitan we had to wait months for a proper driver and struggling around with Apple SIP to make the driver work.
• Promethean ActivBoard - Product Code: ABV387PRO I can confirm that it is NOT working with the latest driver downloaded from Promethean Happy to speak to some devs, try some betas, or to have someone onsite at the school to test and troubleshoot This is obviously a frustrating topic over the last 2 months for all schools with IWBs and Mac OS Sierra. Hopefully the Promethean team are not ignoring the pink elephant in the room and are on top of supporting there customers Oakhill IT. I agree with Goliath - I am having the same issues. I am using a MacBook 13inch bought new in June this year. I have MacOS Sierra 10.12.1, ActivDriver 5.14.21. I have the same issues with the pen lagging behind my writing. This is unacceptable and incredibly frustrating.
Whilst we haven't seen any issues with Mac OS Sierra detecting the ActivPen with ActivDriver 5.14.21, we would recommend if you are using the ActivInspire software not to upgrade as this is where the issues have been seen. Alternatively, one solution is to use ClassFlow (www.ClassFlow.com) where you can import your ActivInspire flipcharts. This will work to present and allow your pen interaction to be detected with no issues. Kind regards, Adam Promethean Technical Support. Hi Michael, Thank you for posting.
